The 'Queen of the North' lies under the shadow of North Barrule and is especially picturesque when seen from the mountain road. Since the dominant wind in the Island is from the south-west, Ramsey is one of the most sheltered spots in the Isle of Man, and its gardens and nearby glens are always about a fortnight ahead of the rest of the Island.
